Kitchen Island must-have!

Hi!

I was chatting it up with a friend the other day after taking a walk-through through the new house. She doesn't know it but she created a monster by showing me this adorable cart.

She actually asked me if I had plans for a kitchen isle and I told her I thought I would do something but I was not sure just what yet. I went on to discuss how I did not think I had a lot of room to do something to terribly big. She was out of town recently visiting a friend who just remolded a home they are living in and they had the same problem! This was their fix to not having so much room either.. I just love this little cart! The shape, height, wheels, basket..everything!

I am on the hunt.. I think this is a perfect fit for our new kitchen!

Hunt starts.....now! :)

A little charm on the door.. BURLAP style! :)

Hellooooooooooo awesome followers!!

Every wonder how to decorate for each season on your front door? What about each occasion? I have found this to be so much fun. It is an easy do for a door hanger for "any" occasion!

Once a month we have a group of ladies that get together to do a craft. We like to call it "Ladies wine and craft night!" Whomever is hosting is in charge of coming up with the craft and hosting us wonderful ladies. Well tonight it is at my house and my craft I choose was Burlap door hangers... I got started on mine last night so I could spend some time with the ladies and do my hosting duties tonight as needed! I decided to do a St. Patricks day hanger because March is soon approaching.. I have below a picture of my inspiration and a picture of my "not quite finished product."

I still need to go over the black and do some touch ups here and there.. I have not completed the hanger its self so I have to finish that as well and add my bow, etc.

Here is how you get this adorable burlap door hanger on your door:

What you will need:
Acrylic paint (the colors you need to complete yopick)
Primer (to spray the burlap so it does not take up so much paint)
Paint brushes
Stapler/Staples
Scissors
Burlap (how much depends on the size of your intended hanger)
Wire
Lots of leftover plastic bags from the grocery store
*A DOOR* :)

There are a few ways you can complete this project but this is my preference..

Directions: Cut out your burlap as you wish to paint (cut a front & back piece..you will staple these together). Prime, then paint your pattern(front piece only)/cut out as wish, as well. Staple the cut out to the back piece together and leave the bottom open enough to stuff the bags in. Stuff your plastic bags in and give it that plump look.. then staple the bottom shut. (I like to go back and touch up the staples with a little bit of paint to make them blend..up to you!) Add anything else you would like to your hanger and attach the wire at the top to hang it up. Enjoy!

Here are a few more examples that I love:

Tons of options just search "burlap door hangers!" People are so creative and have so many great ideas!

Thanks for reading! I'd love to see your burlap door hangers when you get it completed!

Countertop decision....GRANITE!

Well folks,

After spending our Saturday afternoon looking at countertops for the new house I think the verdict is granite! We actually went with intentions of picking Hi-Mac but after pricing comparisons and color comparisons we really loved the granite! We are still deciding on 1 of 2 places doing the job but the color doesn't change too much. If we go with the other place this color looks a little more lighter with a few more brown tones but it still is not too far off! This is our color choice:

Can not wait to see it with the gray cabinets! The hardwood floors will really put out those brown tones!

My awesome red dishes will pop just beautiful on these!

Happy Monday!

Houseeee Update!

Sooooo,

The paint is looking good! They are on their way with the second coat and I can not wait to see the finished product. The entire house is Benjamin Moore - China White with WHITE (I mean, white-white, because I have no idea the name) trim. Our master bedroom is called Benjamin Moore - Ice Cube Silver which is a very soft gray and of course our kitchen cabinets are Benjamin Moore - Thunder Cloud Gray. I am doing everything basic for now because I have DIY intentions for the dining room and/or possibly the hall after we move in but you know I got to see how it all looks when we move in and get our furniture in to get the whole effect! :)

I would love to do the Ice Cube Silver stripe on the wall either...
A) At the end of the hallway that you look straight down when you walk in the house.. something similar to this ENTIRE PICTURE..decorations and all :-P..
This is our hall and I think it would work..
or....
B) Down this wall in the dining room and put a buffet in front of it..or something to that extent..

Again, I blogged about how excited I am about the kitchen and the color of the cabinets.. well this is it: The famous kitchen cabinet color is sampled below..watcha think!?

Oh man, can we please hurry up so I can see it all put togtherrrrrr!?! I am getting so impatient! :)

Tuesday has come and gone, talk to you Wednesday! =)

How about those Ravens?!

Hello friends!

What a great game last night, right!? The commercials were awesome and the only reason I watched the entire game to begin with! :) Brooks and I went down to a friends house and I just have to share on this Monday morning the dip that I made that was a total HIT!!!

S’mores Dip
 Ingredients
  • 1½ cup chocolate chips (I used semi sweet)
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup marshmallow creme
Instructions
  1. In a microwave save bowl, add the sweetened condensed milk with the chocolate chips.
  2. Place in the microwave and heat for 30 seconds. Stir and heat for another 30 seconds.
  3. At this point gift it a stir for about 30 seconds and see if all the chips have melted. If not microwave in 10 second intervals until the chips are melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Place the mixture in a microwave safe pie plate.
  5. Then drop spoonfuls of the marshmallow creme randomly over the chocolate.
  6. Place in the microwave for 30 seconds, the cut the mixture with a knife making a marbled look.
  7. Serve immediately with graham crackers.
I doubled the recipe and had plenty for about 25 people. It was nice to have something sweet on the table besides cookies. I think the crowd for sure enjoyed this dip!

This is a picture from the recipe on the internet but to be honest..mine looked exactly the same!!
I also found some smaller, dip friendly crackers to use instead of something so large. I also had a thought that the honey Teddy Grahams would have been a cute choice also, small and petite for bite size.

Thanks for reading! Happy Monday everyone!!
